Learning how to mix drinks in a shaker is an absolute necessity if you are to become a bartender. Many cocktails, martinis and other mixed drinks are shaken drinks; meaning that the recipe calls for them to be shaken in a shaker tin and then poured into a glass.
Like most bartending basics tutorials, learning how to shake and strain drinks is not at all difficult – and you’ll get better and better at it the more you practise. Be aggressive with your shaker tin and glass and don’t be afraid to shake the sh*t out of that thing – half the presentation of the cocktail is in the preparation of the cocktail itself.
